Behavior Online - a Meeting Place for Professionals
| Leonard Holmes, Ph.D. http://mentalhealth.about.com |
Behavior Online is a website designed specifically for mental health professionals. Gil Levin is probably best known for organizing the Cape Cod Institute every summer. These week long continuing education courses provide mental health professionals with a break from their work along with training from experts in the field.
Gil has put the same amount of thought into Behavior Online. Here you can interact with experts such as Donald Nathanson - an expert on shame and related emotions, Jeffrey Zeig & Stephen Lankton - experts on Ericksonian therapy, and Francine Shapiro - the founder of EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing). The bulletin board format allows you to consider your words carefully and to receive an equally thought-out reply.
Clinical cases are also discussed, with experts contributing. To read and contribute to the case studies you need to certify that you are a mental health professional. All identifying information has been changed, of course. Where else can you discuss a real client with one of the experts in the field?
There are other sites geared primarily to professionals on the net. PsychWatch.com keeps professionals up-to-date on happenings in the field. Mental Health Net's professional corner also has lots of professional content. Only Behavior Online allows this level of interaction.
