Patients with schizophrenia may forget to take the very medication that helps them function. These patients must take medication regularly to reduce their risk of relapse, but a recent study suggests that the memory impairment that accompanies schizophrenia may make it harder for them to take their medications.
The study suggests that schizophrenics confuse real and imagined events at times. It supports the idea that they sometimes "remember" taking their medication when they really didn't take it
