American Psychiatric Association

American Psychiatric Nurses Association
A comprehensive site for this mental health discipline.
American Psychological Association
includes professional and consumer information. APA members have extra resources available by entering their member number.
American Psychological Society
Research-oriented psychologists formed this society because they were dissatisfied with the APA's perceived bias toward clinicians.
The American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work
issues a credential to advanced clinical social workers
The California Psychological Association
contains information primarily of interest to California psychologists.   
Clinical Social Work Federation
a confederation of 31 state societies for clinical social work
The Devereux Foundation
is the largest independent non-profit provider of treatment services for individuals with emotional, behavioral, and developmental disabilities in the United States
Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
(JCAHO) This is the organization which evaluates and accredits more than 15,000 health care organizations in the United States.
Mental Health Licensure Resources
provides up-to-date U.S. and Canada licensure information and resources for Psychologists, Marriage and Family Counselors, Licensed Professional Counselors, and Social Workers.
The National Association of Social Workers
is the largest organization of professional social workers. Their site is primarily of interest to Social Workers, but contains some content for all professionals.
The National Institute of Mental Health
This is an excellent site for consumers and professionals. Read information on mental disorders and treatments, along with proceedings from Consensus Development conferences. Professionals can find information on grants and contracts.
The National Mental Health Association
is a national U.S. organization which works to improve mental health care and advocate for mental health consumers and survivors.  Their site includes links to local associations and other resources.
The National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology
The definitive directory of psychologists who provide healthcare services.  While the Register is not listed online (yet?) there is ample information on how to contact them.
New York State Psychiatric Institute
is the oldest psychiatric research institute in the United States and one of the largest devoted to mental health research in the world.
The Society for Gestalt Theory and its Applications
is a scientific association established for the purpose of promoting the Gestalt-theoretical perspective in research and practice.
