The Truth about 'Survivor'

A response to my article on 'Survivor' and Human Nature

By  Gage Tarrant

I cannot believe that you have been "duped" by "Survivor".  "Reality-based" tv just that- reality "based".  It isn't real.  Are you aware that there are writers on that show?  They may not be scripting it in the traditional sense, but they, along with the producers, are guiding its' direction.

Truthfully, I can't speak with any real authority about the show because I couldn't watch more than 15 minutes of it (I found the production style too weak and the choice of "characters" too uninspiring), but I don't believe that the spectrum of people chosen for this little hoax are examples of humanity that broad, sweeping observations about behavior can be based on.  If anything, this is a prime example of the "dumbing down" of America that is presently taking place so that commercials actually become more interesting than the programming.  Want some Coca-cola?  Don't fall for it.
