National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors The National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors (NASMHPD) organizes to reflect and advocate for the collective interests of State Mental Health Authorities and their directors at the national level. The association identifies public mental health policy issues, apprises its members of research findings and best practices in the delivery of mental health services, fosters collaboration, provides consultation and technical assistance, and promotes effective management practices and financing mechanisms adequate to sustain its mission. Their web site includes information on government relations? efforts, programs, membership, and a directory. National Mental Health Association/ State Healthcare Reform The National Mental Health Association is dedicated to promoting mental health, preventing mental disorders and achieving victory over mental illnesses through advocacy, education, research and service. Their web site includes legislative information for state and federal governments, advocacy alerts, publications and position statements. American College of Health Care Administrators The American College of Health Care Administrators is the professional society for administrators in long-term care, assisted living and subacute care. Their mission is to be the premier organization serving as a catalyst to empower administrators who will define professionalism throughout the continuum of care. Their web site includes a copy of the ACHCA Position Statement on Diversity. Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) HCFA is the federal agency that administers Medicare, Medicaid and the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). In addition to providing health insurance, HCFA also performs a number of quality-focused activities, including regulation of laboratory testing (CLIA), surveys and certification of health care facilities, development of coverage policies, and quality-of-care improvement. Their web site includes the Information Clearinghouse, an on-line source for HCFA publications and information on their insurance programs, statistics and research. National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems (NAPHS) The National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems represents behavioral healthcare systems that are committed to the delivery of responsive, accountable, and clinically effective treatment and prevention programs for children, adolescents, and adults with mental and substance use disorders. American Managed Behavioral Healthcare Association (AMHBA) The American Managed Behavioral Healthcare Association (AMBHA) is a non-profit trade association representing the nation?s leading managed behavioral healthcare organizations. The Association?s primary objectives are to: promote accountability of health plans; manage behavioral healthcare organizations and providers through performance measurement; promote nondiscriminatory coverage of mental illness and substance use disorders in health benefits; and, support meaningful consumer rights and protections. Association of Black Psychologists The Association of Black Psychologists address the needs of Black professionals and work to have a positive impact upon the mental health of the national Black community by means of planning, programs, services, training, and advocacy. Their objectives are to organize their skills and abilities to influence necessary change, and to address themselves to significant social problems affecting the Black community and other segments of the population whose needs society has not fulfilled. Their web site includes information on research publications, assessment techniques and other products, their advocacy work to influence public policy, and Student Circle, a student run section of the association. Asian American Psychological Association The Asian American Psychological Association (AAPA) is national organization for psychologists whose mission is to: advance the welfare of Asian Americans by encouraging, assisting, and advocating research on and service to Asian Americans; provide a network and forum for Asian American psychologists and psychological professionals who work with Asian Americans and who are interested in improving mental health services to Asian Americans; conduct meetings, issue publications and other educational materials, and inform others of socio-psychological issues facing Asian Americans; and, perform other activities to further the advancement of Asian Americans in today's society. National Center for Cultural Competence The National Center for Cultural Competence (NCCC) is a component of the Georgetown University Child Development Center, Center for Child Health and Mental Health Policy, and is housed within the Department of Pediatrics of the Georgetown University Medical Center. NCCC?s mission is to increase the capacity of health care programs to design, implement and evaluate culturally competent service delivery systems. National Alliance for Hispanic Health COSSMHO is the sole organization focusing on the health, mental health, and human services needs of the diverse Hispanic communities. COSSMHO's services include: consumer education and outreach, training programs, technical assistance, model community-based programs, policy analysis, development and dissemination, research, advocacy, infrastructure support and development, and development and adaptation of materials. The American Psychological Association (APA) is a professional organization which represents psychology in the United States. APA works to advance psychology as a science, a profession, and a means of promoting human welfare. |
