Description

The International Association of Parents and Professionals for Safe Alternatives in Childbirth (NAPSAC) explores, examines, and implements family-centered childbirth programs which meet the needs of families while providing the safe aspects of medical science. The Association promotes education about the principles of natural childbirth; acts as a forum for communication among parents, medical professionals, and childbirth educators; helps to implement family-centered maternity care in hospitals; assists in the establishment of maternity and childbearing centers and safe home birth programs; and provides educational opportunities for parents-to-be. NAPSAC organizes conferences and seminars; sponsors training workshops for childbirth educators, midwives, nurses_SMB also maintains a speaker's bureau and provides consulting services to hospitals, birth centers, home birth services, governmental health agencies, and professional organizations.

Print Resources

NAPSAC publishes books on such topics as compulsory hospitalization, freedom of choice in childbirth, safe alternatives in childbirth, breastfeeding, and nutrition, as well as a Directory of alternative birth services. A publications brochure is available upon request. Serial publication: NAPSAC News (newsletter), quarterly--current issues.
