Religious organizations have not always taken an enlightened view of mental health problems. An article in the Western Catholic Reporter attempts to change this. "One of the most difficult issues that a family can face is mental illness. When a member of the family has a serious physical illness, the family's friends, neighbours, and fellow parishioners rally around the family with support. "
