Rapid Detox under Anesthesia not supported for Heroin Withdrawal

Addiction to opiates such as heroin can be difficult to treat. The technique of rapid opioid detoxification using general anesthesia has emerged as a new but unproven approach to treat opioid dependence. An article published this week in the Journal of the American Medical Association found no advantages for this risky procedure over more proven methods of treatment.
