Depression Influences Diabetes in Women

A new study of 2,662 middle-aged women published in Diabetes Care found that symptoms of depression in were associated with higher levels of insulin resistance, which is a precursor to diabetes. The authors think that the findings may help explain why depression is twice as common among people with diabetes than in the general population. Depression is also associated with poor diabetes management.
