Revenge Really is Sweet

Brain scans of volunteers playing a game revealed that a region of the brain associated with satisfaction was activated when players got revenge on someone who had cheated them. The PET scans showed a brain region known to be important for enjoyment and satisfaction - the dorsal striatum - became active in those players who decided to retaliate. They actually got satisfaction from anticipating the act of revenge.
