Some Antidepressants Relieve Hot Flashes

Many women who quit taking hormone replacement therapy start taking it again. Researchers in a newly-published study surveyed 377 randomly chosen patients in northern California who tried to stop taking hormone replacement therapy. 25% of the patients had menopause symptoms (especially hot flashes) to such a degree that they resumed the pills.
The study is published in the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology. One of the study's authors suggested that women should take 6 months to one year to taper off these medications. Medications like Prozac and Trazodone can also help. Read more in this AP article:
