MRI of Brain may predict Future Memory Loss
Saturday November 29, 2003
Scientists have found that magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can reveal subtle changes in a specific area of the brain that can actually predict future cognitive or memory decline in healthy adults.
This study, published in the Journal of Radiology, is the first to use MRI to predict the onset of mild cognitive impairment. The researchers found that atrophy of the medial temporal lobe was sht strongest predictor of later impairment.
