Studying Brain Patterns During Forgiving
Thursday October 9, 2003
Scientists using brain imaging have discovered complex patterns among areas of the brain during the act of forgiving. They then studied patients with schizophrenia and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) before and after treatment.
Following therapy the brain activity of both the patients with PTSD and the patients with Schizophrenia appeared to 'normalize' and return to the patterns seen in the healthy control group.
