Hostility & Depression increase Heart Disease Protein

Previous studies have shown a relationship between hostility and negative affect and heart disease. A new study suggests a mechanism for this relationship. A study at Duke University Medical Center found that mild to moderate levels of depression combined with hostility in healthy men to raise their levels IL-6, a protein that is associated with clogged arteries and increased risk of heart attack.
